Weekly Market Update for 07/10/26
Valuable insights on the latest market price changes for eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.
Here is a look at the markets:
Eggs:
The shell egg market has sprung to life! The large market is up +.17 week over week. Retail demand is showing modest improvement and certain sizes are tight. The higher markets are driving buyers to take a position. No change yet on any processed egg products.

Dairy Fundamentals:
Milk volumes are declining seasonally. Extreme temperatures in the Midwest and Northeast are affecting cow comfort and milk component levels. Across the nation, many facilities experienced downtime for the holiday, providing ample amounts of milk and cream for the spot market. Class I demand is steady to lighter this week. Class II manufacturers continue to experience strong demand this week, specifically for ice cream and yogurt.
Butter:
After some recent summer turbulence in the market, this week has been very quiet. Futures have pulled back as well. Recent warm temperatures throughout the US and EU are putting a dent in production, but there appears to be plenty of inventory and it looks like the upside to the market will be limited unless we see sustained declines in production. We have attractive pricing on High Desert label as well as Cabot label butter solids. Dinner Bell butter cups (13705 and 13739) have been replaced by Grassland label (40510 and 40511) at the same price level. We also have Sommer Maid butter cups (40495, 40500) available.
Cheese:
I think there is a lot of head-scratching going on this week to try to determine the sudden spike in the block market. Prices have been depressed so long that one theory is that we are starting to see an uptick in export interest as well as from domestic buyers. Overall supplies continue to be good, but there are a few manufacturers that are struggling. We are seeing sporadic supply interruptions from Dairy Farmers of America on Jacobo, Enricco and Savoldi mozzarella and provolone. Bongards continues to struggle with keeping the pipeline filled but our inventories appear to be in good shape. One of our goat cheese suppliers, Hudson Valley Creamery, just shipped their last order so we are now out of their label goat crumbles ((code 14364) but have Alouette label (14378) as an alternative at the same price. We also received the last of the Hudson Valley label 2/2.5lb goat logs (14363) as well as 12/10.5oz logs (14362) so please look for Sommer Maid label alternatives (40470 and 40471) once stock has been depleted. Check out the attractive pricing on Swiss cheese, especially under the Block Essentials brand!
Fluid Dairy:
Check out the attractive pricing on Sommer Maid heavy cream, half & half and sour cream products! Prices didn’t change much for July.
PUSH LIST. Prices slashed further!:

Daisy sour cream is now available! We are stocking Daisy Brand 4/5lb sour cream (40292) and 100/1oz sour cream packets (40293). Please reach out to your sales associate for details!

For the most complete lineup of dairy products, count on Sommer Maid for quality, consistency and value!
