Dave’s Weekly Market Update for 12/12/25
Valuable insights on the latest market price changes for eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.
Eggs:
The egg market is weak. The supply is greatly exceeding the demand, and eggs are dropping aggressively. I expect more declines again next week. There were also some drops in the frozen processed egg items.
Butter:
Butter rose slightly this week, but I do not think we will see much movement in this market. A quiet week with only 8 loads changing hands at the CME.
Cheese:
The largest dairy herd in decades has pushed milk production to record high levels. This is making sure that plenty of milk is making into the vats and churns, providing the US with huge inventories of cheese and butter in cold storage. This, along with lackluster demand and falling world markets, is pushing the markets to very low levels. I have to guess that at some point the markets will turn around and present some buying opportunities. The big question is when this will take place and what needs to happen to turn these markets around. The decline in the markets has made it a challenge to maintain inventories at profitable levels.
