Weekly Market Update for 08/14/26

Here is a look at the markets:
Eggs:
The large shell egg market is dropping rapidly! Retail demand has waned. Walmart has actually raised prices. Korea has cut back on the import side. Deals are being made and buyers are going hand to mouth. This trend is expected to last a couple weeks. Mediums remain unchanged.
Butter:
The market remains favorable to buyers. The market remains well supplied, but slowing milk production growth could tighten supplies as we head into Q4. Butter production is up 8.5% YTD as of June reports, while stocks are 6.6% lower. Exports are up 35.4%. High Desert Milk continues to struggle with production. Unfortunately we will see some supply interruptions over the next few weeks. We have a couple loads due in on Monday but are out of salted solids (14170) until then. Please consider the Country Maid as an alternative. On butter cups, the best value is on the Sommer Maid butter label (40495, 40500), especially with an impending price increase on the horizon from Grassland.
Cheese:
The block market has found a little strength this week. Exports have been strong, up 23.9% year over year, while inventories are down .9%. Production is up 1.1%. We are now offering Dinner Bell label sliced processed American cheese (standard of identity with the real seal!). We have 160 white (code 40258) and 160 yellow (12212) along with white loaf (13813) and yellow loaf (13807). Inventories on Bongards sliced American are good at this time. On cream cheese, check out the attractive pricing on Sommer Maid 30lb bulk (40601) and 10/3lb (40600)!
