Weekly Foodservice Market Information from Honor Foods

Weekly Market Update for 06/26/26

Valuable insights on the latest market price changes for eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Here is a look at the markets:

Eggs:

Broken record! The shell egg market hasn’t moved now in the four weeks and there is nothing to suggest any changes near term. Michael Foods (Papetti) products will be going up $.01/lb for the third quarter with new prices in effect on June 29.

Butter:

The market dropped below $1.50 on Tuesday for the first time since January 29 but quickly bounced back on Wednesday and then Thursday closed at the same level as the last day of trading last week. No one seems to be able to explain this recent erratic market, but the frustration can be shared by all that try to find the optimum time to buy. The future direction cannot be predicted, but there don’t appear to be any signs that the market will continue to climb for too long. Futures for July are showing upper $1.50’s and $1.60 for August. We have attractive pricing on High Desert label butter solids. Dinner Bell butter cups (13705 and 13739) have been replaced by Grassland label (40510 and 40511) at the same price level.  We are also starting to get the Sommer Maid butter cups (40495, 40500) back in stock after what seems like an eternity.

Cheese:

The block market is on its way to finish at its lowest week-ending level since February 20. The market touched $1.39 on Monday but I don’t think we are going to see that level repeat itself anytime soon. Look for the block to max out in the $1.50’s this summer unless we start to see some extreme temperatures. Dairy Farmers of America is still behind on production of mozzarella and provolone at their New Wilmington, PA plant. We are seeing shortages on Jacobo and Enricco label products, but we have product due to fill the pipeline by the middle of next week. In the meantime, we have the Bella Francesca label, which we feature with a full lineup of mozzarella and provolone! We have attractive pricing on Land O’Lakes white and yellow loaf American, but prices will be raised $.35/lb to match everyone else the week of July 6.  Bongards continues to have product issues on sliced American with lead times now pushed out closer to five weeks. Check out the attractive pricing on Swiss cheese, especially under the Block Essentials brand! The Swiss market went up about $.135 for May and is up another $.09 for June and is expected to be up about another $.10/lb for July.

Fluid Dairy:

Check out the attractive pricing on Sommer Maid heavy cream, half & half and sour cream products!  Look for slightly lower prices for July on heavy cream, half & half, sour cream and cottage cheese.

Daisy sour cream is now available! We are stocking Daisy Brand 4/5lb sour cream (40292) and 100/1oz sour cream packets (40293). Please reach out to your sales associate for details!
