Dave’s Weekly Market Update — September 29, 2023

Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

The egg market remained steady this week and is “in balance”. We may see some uptick in the coming weeks as holiday baking begins on the wholesale level.

Weekly CME Cash Dairy Product Prices September 29, 2023
Weekly CME Cash Dairy Product Prices September 29, 2023

We are at an all-time record high prices as of yesterday and I do not think we are done! Only 6 loads have changed hands this week and basically no one is offering loads for sale. It seems that there just is not enough bulk butter available for manufacturers for the 4th quarter. That is the item that is traded at the CME. Crazy times for sure!

The Block market is slowly drifting downwards and the Barrel is dropping rapidly. The markets close are lower than the averages, so if nothing changes, more of the same next week.

Cream Cheese and Sour Cream:

As I have been stating for a few weeks now these items follow butter but lag behind. Cream rose slightly but will skyrocket for November. We are lagging behind on cream cheese but we will see double digit increases next week.

Opportunity Buys for you!:

Dairy Farmers Condensed Skim Milk in 50 lb pails.  $70.00 per pail.  That is way below market for your bakery customers. Please ask around as this is a rocking price!

Bel Gioioso Buratta 6/4/4 oz is also something we are dealing with at reduced pricing. . Great item for late in the tomato season  appetizer and salad specials!

Please ask your Honor or Sommer Maid rep about these outstanding offers!

All of us at Honor Foods thank you for your continued business and hope you have a safe and relaxing weekend.
