Good afternoon and welcome to Autumn!
Eggs:
With the Bird Flu spreading in Ohio and Colorado the egg market has reached record highs this week. I believe there is more to come as the increases have been large everyday. We are hearing the market could surpass the $4.00 market! Over 40 million birds have been put down and this is wreaking havoc in the supply.
Due to this we have been forced to adjust egg prices on a daily basis this week and may need to again mid next week.
Butter:
Butter edged downward this week in very light trading. I am still a believer that the market will remain near this level or higher for the next month or so. Butterfat is still tight and 4th quarter demand ramps up in the next 2 weeks.
Cheese:
The Barrel market just keeps rising. There is a .19 inverse spread again. I was way off thinking that last week’s market equality would relate to stability in the market. I do not have a good answer as to why or how the market will correct itself.
Hilldale American cheese by Land O Lakes is still a major issue as we constantly get cut over 60% of our loads. We are doing our best to keep you supplied.
We all thank you for your continued business and hope you have a safe and relaxing Fall weekend!
