Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

The egg market is correcting fairly aggressively and looks like it will continue for a while longer. We had a 29 cent decrease this week on the white eggs.

Butter:

Butter has been bouncing all around as of late. We set the market last week at the Thursday close of $2.73. Friday it dropped .05 and you can see this week’s movement above. Trading 21 loads so far this week. I expect more of the same for the near future.

Cheese:

Cheese seems to also be in a state of flux. It just cannot make up it’s mind. I still feel that the markets are too high at this point. Converse to that the milk prices in the Midwest have surged. A little over a month ago it was trading $6-$8 under class and now it is trading $1.00+ over class. We did drop both Block and Barrel this week.

Cream Cheese and Sour Cream:

This market lags behind butter and has risen again. These increases are traditional in the 4th quarter as the demand for butter fat always rises for the upcoming holiday season.
