Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

Eggs once again have remained flat with the exception of brown eggs going up another .01.   

Butter:

This bounced around this week and ended up exactly the same as last Thursday’s close. 12 loads changed hands so there was some activity and it ended up the same anyway. What is your guess? I still think it has to go down either late this month or closer to Thanksgiving. 

Cheese:

Both block and Barrel rallied this week and closed higher than the average, meaning if nothing changes, prices will be higher again next week. There was a good amount of cheese traded this week with 42 loads changing hands. My gut says we may see a little bit more of an increase before the markets stabilize at a slightly higher level.

Due to butter’s rapid and huge rise in price, cream cheese pricing is also taking big jumps on a weekly basis. With this week’s increase in cream cheese and lack of major movement in butter we may remain at this new level and not have to increase again next Friday.

Dairy Farmers of America condensed skim milk in 50 lb pails. We are still pushing this especially with all the holiday baking that is beginning to take place.
