Dave’s Weekly Market Update — March 8, 2024

Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs have seemingly settled in after tanking .80 a dozen last week. They went down Friday and Monday but have been stable since then.

Butter rose the past 3 days and declined today to last Thursday’s close. I was surprised by the big drop but we will see what tomorrow brings!

Both Block and Barrels ended up dropping for the week. Barrels really dropped aggressively today and narrowed the huge inverse spread that we have been seeing. After today’s drop my guess is that Barrels will drop more to correct the inverse spread. Supplies of cheese seem plentiful, and milk is somewhat cheap. It is not selling at the big discounts we were seeing a few months ago though.
