Dave’s Weekly Market Update — March 17, 2023

Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

The egg market continued its rise this week, but today only went up .06 DZ not the .07 DZ it has been doing. I take that to mean the next week’s increase might be smaller. Demand is building for all of the holiday baking.

Butter:

Butter has not traded much in the past few weeks. The price increase might be due to ice cream manufacturers stepping up their purchase of cream. Thus tightening up the supply some. I would not expect much movement in the next week or two.

Cheese:

Both Blocks and Barrels were aggressive this week. The volume on Barrels has dropped from the record highs of the past few weeks. But still 20 loads changed hands. The Block backed off slightly today and I feel it will back off .05 or so next week. Time shall tell. I feel these markets are too high due to the current milk prices and demand.
