Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

Eggs remained flat this week. I am happy to see stability in this market and not see a crazy run up like usual. 

Butter:

Butter crept up with only 1 load changing hands this week. Butter has stayed slightly higher than anticipated and I think it will probably stay this way for a while. With the unofficial start to Summer behind us, ice cream season will take a  lot of cream out of the marketplace.

Cheese:

Did we hit the bottom of the market this week? Blocks tanked earlier in the week and rebounded nicely today. Barrels are .0075 higher than blocks. and at least they are finally close. My thoughts are that the Block will rise some tomorrow and hopefully settle in around this range. Spring flush is basically behind us so the surplus of milk should diminish somewhat.

Cream:

We are happy to introduce Sommer Maid half and half at an aggressive price. We still will carry some of the Golden Sunshine also. With butter’s slight rise as of late there are minor increases in cream for June.
