Dave’s Weekly Market Update — January 19, 2024

Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

I believe we are near the top of the egg market. We may see a few more pennies and then it should level off unless some unforeseen issue takes place.

Butter:

Butter has remained in a narrow range since mid-November. There has not been much activity at the CME signifying a rather content market at present levels. Futures are also in this range. I do not expect anything drastic to take place in the near future.

Cheese:

Blocks have dropped this week as supplies are more robust than demand. Barrels had remained basically flat but did drop some today. Both have not traded all that much at the CME.

Land O Lakes:

LOL Deli or retail cheese was finally adjusted due to the lower markets.  These items are down .50 lb starting next week. On the foodservice side they are cutting the 160 vertical cheeses that many of you purchase. We have plenty on hand now, but soon it will only be the 4/5 lb ribbon cut that is available.

All of us at Honor Foods and all of our divisions thank you for your business!  We all wish you a safe and relaxing weekend.
