Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.
Eggs:
Eggs are doing the fast and furious correction and dropped another.75 cents this week. Hang on, as there is more to come.

Butter:
Butter crept up a few pennies this week with only 2 loads changing hands at the CME. Futures are not pointing to a rise, but it makes you wonder if it will rise just like last January.
As of next Friday, Cabot bulk butter will once again be available on both salted and unsalted.
Cream:
Cream availability is still challenging, but we did get some good relief in the pricing. Hopefully soon the market will loosen up and we will have a better supply. It has been a challenging season for supply to say the least!
Cheese:
Both markets jumped up Friday and Monday and now are dropping again. I am unsure why, as milk in the Midwest is selling at a steep discount to the market. I have heard of some issues in transportation of milk due to the unusual weather in California and Wisconsin, was this the cause?
AMPI, the producer of Dinner Bell label cheese and butter suffered a fire early last week in their cheese plant in Portage, Wisconsin. They are a huge producer and will not be producing cheese for the near future. This will affect the availability of some loaf American and 2/5 lb cheddar cheese items. Butter was also shipped out of this plant and caused a short disruption but we are back in stock on these items. They are now shipping directly from the butter plant in Minnesota.
We have a couple of opportunity buys that might interest you.
Caputo Grated Romano packed 4/5 lb at $2.25 lb
Sommer Maid 4/5 sour cream that is short coded and dated 1/30 and some 2/15. We are offering this at $1.00 if someone can use it.
All of us on the Honor Foods team thank you for your business and wish you a safe and relaxing weekend!
