Dave’s Weekly Market Update — February 27, 2023

Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

The egg market has been continuing to rise but at a reasonable rate. Flocks are still being rebuilt and some commercial bakeries are building up for Easter. I feel we will probably get to over a $3.00 market as Easter approaches.

Normally I post this on Thursdays, but this is showing Friday’s close which this week shares more information, Butter rose .05 Friday after we set the markets. Blocks corrected Friday by dropping .07. Barrels also dropped slightly.

Butter:

The volume at the CME was almost non-existent this week with only 1 load changing hands. My feelings still are that Butter will stay in the $2.40 to $2.50 trading range for the near future.

Cheese:

The Block market jumped up .08 on Monday to $1.96 but retreated on Friday back to  the last week’s average of $1.88. There were only 6 loads traded this week. Barrels on the other hand had 37 loads changing hands and the average rose .02. Both markets will probably be lower next week if nothing of any consequence changes this week as the market close was lower than the averages.

There will not be a report later this week as I will be away. The entire Honor Foods team would like to thank you for your business. We hope you had an enjoyable weekend!
