Dave’s Weekly Market Update – October 15, 2020

Eggs:
The egg market found a balance this week with only the brown market moving upwards.

Butter:
Butter turned around this week and all of last week’s drops were erased. There is still a lot of butter available, and I believe this week’s jump was people taking advantage of the very low market. I do not feel we will see much more in the way of increases.

Cheese:
The cheese markets are continuing to rise. Barrels rose more than Blocks but the spread is still over .50.
The Farms to Families Food Box Program is still considered to be the biggest driver of the markets. That demand is expected to subside by the end of the month unless the government extends the program. I would expect that there will be some correction later this month.

The Block cheese supply is still tight & based on demand. The Food Box Program is absorbing about 4% -5% of the total milk output in the country at the present time.

Product availability:
We have made great strides in having more products available for you with only a few exceptions as of late. Land O Lakes is still having shortages on the Hilldale loaf American, and AAK is still a great disappointment in supplying margarine and butter blends. We have Admiration butter blend due in here tomorrow and a load Sunrise butter blend due in here by the 26th.

We are doing our best to keep you fully stocked so you can support your loyal customers.
All of us would like to thank you for your business and understanding in these unprecedented times.

We hope you have a safe and relaxing weekend.
