Dave’s Weekly Market Update — May 26th, 2022

Good afternoon to all!

Eggs:

The egg market is trying to stay where it is at the moment. The A1 bird flu is abating as the migration season is winding down. There is a shortage of cage free eggs which is making it difficult for distributors in Mass who are mandated to sell only cage free eggs. My best guess is that eggs will probably stay in this range for the near future but time will tell!

Butter:

Butter has been steadily climbing until today when it gave back .005.  There were 29 loads that changed hands so far this week. I do not expect it to drop much if at all. Supplies are tight and the multiples for cream are very high due to so much competition for the cream. Ice cream manufacturers are busy and the demand for cream and butterfat is just high at the moment.

Cream:

For the first time in months cream is dropping from some manufacturers. There also seems to be supply issues in the Northeast and we are getting slammed. 40% is in very short supply and by mid week we will run out unfortunately.

Tyson Foods is coming to Honor foods!

Honor Foods is very excited to be bringing in the Tyson line starting in mid June. Please ask your salesperson for all the details! We will be starting with a small portion of the line and look forward to expanding the line rapidly as we move forward.

We all thank you for your continued business in these trying times. We wish you a safe and relaxing holiday weekend.
