Each week Honor Foods Dairy Specialist David Albert provides you with Dave’s Weekly Market Update, with some valuable insights on the most current market price changes on eggs, butter, cheese, and cream products.

Eggs:

The inventories are still burdensome and forcing the market down. The decreases were less, but it seems there is still more room for lower markets next week. 

Butter:

 Butter continues to bounce around within this narrow range. As stated previously I believe this will continue unless there is a heat wave to reduce the amount of milk and its components. 

Cheese:

Both Block and Barrel slid a little more this week. The spread has narrowed some down to .20. Blocks dropped some but the Barrels started rising to close the gap. The Barrel average is still down for the week. Another week of millions of Lbs of Barrels moving at the CME. Both buyers and sellers seem comfortable at this level. Will next week be the low for the Summer season? Milk is abundant as we are in the peak of the Spring flush. Manufacturers are making good margins as milk has been trading way under class prices in the MidWest.

H.P. Hood – I want to mention again that we are trying to build up our Hood product line. We presently are stocking the pc sour cream, Axelrod buttermilk, UHT half gallons of whole milk and aseptic creamers. We also are stocking Almond breeze and Planet Oat milk items. Please ask for other items and we can bring them in for you.
